She Misses Me

So, Tess is doing so well in Kindergarten that I began to wonder if she missed me at all. Yesterday, she was very clingy with me. She didn’t want to run errands with her Dad. Usually, she thinks that’s pretty cool. She climbed up on my lap and I asked her what was wrong. She said she doesn’t get to spend any time with me—so she wanted to stay with me. “Now, all I am either on the bus or at school and I don’t get to see you that much.”
But I am here when she leaves. Here when she comes home. Volunteer once a week in her classroom.
Still, she misses me. And I guess I kinda like it—in a bittersweet, butterflies in my stomach sort of way.
