Five things I thought about during my morning walk:

1. I think I could handle running out here if my glasses were not steaming up. Another Wii-run.
2. Lark Rise to Candleford. I look forward to it every Saturday. I like
the way it captures the lives of all the town residents.
3. "…writers and editors should live in the expectation that they
will wake up some morning and find that their bosses have left during
the night. If this happens to you, get on with your life. Don't waste
energy railing at the publishing profession, It has been careless with
writers forever and it isn't going to change." William Zinsser, Writing
about Your Life, 2004.
4.Nice note from Tess's teacher this morning. We think Tess is better. We have no idea what the problem was.
5. A brief look through the cake books on Amazon reveals startling
differences between the way we look at pie and the way we look at cake.
There may be one or two narrative books on cake; with pie, there was a
lot more. People have strong feelings about pie, which I think is more
of an everyday dessert. Cake is fancier. "Big time, shoot the dime," as
my Aunt Mart would say.
