Cookbooks, Mrs. Rowe · October 1, 2006

Not a great venue

I thought the Fortune-Williams Music Festival would be a great place to sell cookbooks. I was wrong. I sold one book. (I would have sold more if I’d been able to take credit cards.) I was trying to talk myself optimistically–you know, LOTS of folks picked up cards and talked to me about the book and the restaurant. So, I told myself, that is a very good thing. (The next time they see the book, they will be more likely to purchase it, right?) But still, as I drove to the restaurant, I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. I really almost felt like plunging from the nearest bridge. When I told them I only sold one book, they couldn’t believe it. BECAUSE THEY SOLD 4 CASES!
It’s going to be interesting to see how many books we sell next weekend at New Dominion Bookstore, a fabulous independent bookstore in Charlottesville. Stay tuned!
