The Virginia Festival of the Book was a raging success for me. Not only did I sell out of books, but I was also able to meet other cookbook authors. The author reception was very fancy and I met some lovely people, one of whom was Earl Hamner, Jr., the writer of the Walton’s television show, among other things. He was so warm and personable.
Now, I am looking into attending the American Society of Journalists and Authors meeting in a few weeks in New York City. It sounds wonderful and I hope I can make it. I’ve got a place to stay—with a lifelong friend of mine, so I won’t have to pay the outrageous hotel fees. I’m trying to figure out how to get there— without breaking the bank.
In the mean time, I’ve started another blog. It’s about life in the Shenandoah Valley. I do hope you’ll check it out at shenandoahvalleydaybook@blogspot.com. I hope to cover food (mostly) in the Valley and give glimpses into this place I call home.
