Recital hell and drama

I haven’t been posting in awhile. Maybe you’ve noticed. But I am in the middle of recital season. Last week, Emma had her violin recital, which was lovely for her. As usual, I felt like I was going to puke. I knew she didn’t practice enough and I am always afraid for her. But, as usual, she did fine. Next, along with all of other other school activities, we have the BIG dance recital coming. Both girls will be in it. These preparations go on for weeks in advance with costumes, pictures, and rehearsals. Next week, we will be at the rehearsal hall every night. The girls love to dance and really love to perform, but I wonder how this has all gotten so complicated and expensive. When I danced at this level (in the prehistoric ages), we had one rehearsal, the week before, which was a run through of the whole show from beginning to end. That makes sense. I don’t know how any of this makes sense–one night you have such and such, the next night another one, and so on. I am really looking forward to the END of this dancing year.
