Mollie Cox Bryan

Blog, i mollie, i run · January 4, 2011

Five things I thought about during my morning run:

1. Hey there’s Christy walking beside me. Cool.

2. Chatting about the holiday break really made the time fly.

3. This place is awesome.

4. Self-publishing. E-publishing. All of the changes in the industry. It’s hard to keep up.

5. Copyrights. Trademarks. Quotes. And so on. I am not sure anymore about the terms of fair use. A friend of mine is having an issue with her book because of the word Coke. Now I’m just remembering all the stuff about me using quotes from the “Pie Song” from Waitress. Pulled at the end–right before it was sent to press–because of the lawyers. It used to be you could quote songs and poems and so on, as long as there was proper attribution and it wasn’t the the whole thing. Now I’m kind of worried about Maggie Rae’s Scrapbooks and Scrapbook of Shadows. I quote Leaves of Grass throughout both books. Oye.
